According to top business magazine Forbes, squash is one the best forms of exercies that you can have. Here at The Whitby Club we are blessed with a well maintained court which continues keep our members and vistors alike, healthy in body and mind.
Our squash court can be booked by contacting our office (details below). But if you've never played before, here are a few reasons why it's good for you...
1. First of all, squash is a truely cosmopolitan sport which means that anyone, regardless of level or fitness, can play.
2. By playing, you easily 'burn-off' calories.
It is estimated that the average player can burn between 550 - 900 calories an hour!
3. It's good for your muscles, cartilages and bones.
Similar to 5-aside, badmington or netball, the sport of squash is packed with quick bursts of movement, sudden stops and changes of body direction. Though this puts stress on your bones and muscles, in the longer term it strengthens your body.
Ofcourse it is vitally important (as with any sport) that you make sure you have a good muscle stretch before you play. You must have a good warm-up (and warm-down after your game).
4. You'll improve your stamina and help reduce your cholesteral levels too.
5. You'll also improve your mental health.
It's amazing how hitting a small rubber ball against a wall can make you think quicker. But when you play, you'll quickly start to not only improve your game
but also work out your opponent's strengths and weaknesses.
